School of Pharmacy graduates its largest class

Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy Commencement took place Sunday, May 27, on the university mall. This year saw the largest class in the seven-year history of the school with 73 students receiving the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.

Speaking to the new doctors was Loma Linda University President Richard Hart, M.D., Dr.P.H., with a thought-provoking speech titled "Mission-Focused Living." Dr. Hart's message enlightened the new doctors of pharmacy about the intristic rewards of a professional career of service to humanity. Dr. Hart's message was timely for a world fraught with major health issues--and relevant from his personal medical-mission work in Africa and other nations of the world.

Moreover, Dr. Hart's administration has focused on service as a core value inherent in the campus culture and has contributed to outreach efforts that respond to needs at home and abroad, including Students for International Mission Service (SIMS), Social Action Community Health System (SACHS), Adventist Health International (AHI), Global Learning Center, and other special projects.

Several awards for outstanding service and excellence were presented during the ceremony: Amy Balog received the Dean's Award; Danielle Davis received the Wil Alexander Whole Person Care Award; SunYoo Min received the President's Award; and Paul M. Norris, associate dean for clinical affairs and professor, received the School Distinguished Service Award.
