The Neighborhood Atlas (link is external), a new tool to help researchers visualize socioeconomic data at the community level is now available. This online platform allows for easily ranking and mapping neighborhoods according to socioeconomic disadvantage. Seeing a neighborhood's socioeconomic measures, such as income, education, employment and housing quality, may provide clues to the effects of those factors on overall health, and could inform health resources policy and social interventions... AAMC released an article on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, describing the benefits of NIH's new long-term-grant programs: the R35 for established investigators and ESI/MERIT programs for less-established investigators. The R35 offers established investigators more flexibility to explore new concepts, greater stability, and allows them to take more risks. Depending on the issuing institute, this mechanism will support an investigator's work from 5-8 years with up to $600,000-$750,000 in direct costs per year... (read more)
