Screening explores slavery and role of healthcare professionals in fight for freedom

It is estimated that the number of people in slavery in the world is 27 million.

That's today. And that's the highest number in all of human history.

California is a top destination for human trafficking in the United States because of its size, population, geography and location; and within California, the San Francisco Bay area and Los Angeles have the highest rates.

As part of Californians Against Sexual Exploitation (CASE) in Southern California Freedom Week (Jan. 14-18), attend a free screening of "Sex + Money: A National Search for Human Worth" Wednesday, Jan. 16, followed by a panel discussion addressing the role of healthcare professional in restoring the mental and physical health of those who survive human trafficking.

The event begins at 5 p.m. in the Councilors Student Pavilion.

This event is sponsored by the Loma Linda University Campus Chaplains, the School of Public Health and School of Behavioral Health, the Domestic Violence Task Force, the Human Trafficking Task Force and CASE. This event is the second in a series planned by the Loma Linda University Chaplains to provide sutdents and employees an opportunity to participate in local, national and international serivce.
