Believe in making a difference with Believe Walk

The Stater Bros. Charities and Inland Women Fighting Cancer will celebrate cancer survivors and raise awareness with the 5th Annual Believe Walk in Redlands Sunday, Oct. 7.

According to its Web site, the Believe Walk is one of the largest fundraising events in Southern California. Last year's Believe Walk's participants, sponsors and donors raised more than $380,000 that will be used to fight cancer.

In addition, the event has donated more than $1 million to local cancer-fighting organizations, including helping to "establish a Patient Resource Enter and Loma Linda University Cancer Center."

To register in advance, visit believeie.com. Alternatively, same-day registration for the event begins at 6:30 a.m.

The walk begins at 8 a.m. at State and Orange streets. The 5K and 10K routes end at the Redlands Bowl.

The 5 kilometer (3.1 miles) and 10 kilometer (6.2 miles) routes are scenic tours of Redlands. The 10K route is the more challenging, with a slight elevation change over the course of the route.

In addition, volunteers are needed for every aspect of the event. Participate by cheering walkers and providing volunteer support.

For more information about the event, including a map of the routes, visit the Believe Walk Web site at believeie.com.
