Sabbath School explores Creation and public health April 4

Sigve Tonstad, MD, PhD, and J.C. Belliard, PhD, will discuss "Out of His Dust and Mud God Heals" Sabbath, April 4, in the Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class.

Continuing the class' series on Adventist Faith and Public Health, Dr. Tonstad, a New Testament scholar, will draw on his recent Jack Provonsha Lecture to relate the biblical understanding of creation to public health. Dr. Belliard, appointed by Loma Linda University to strengthen ties with local governments and community organizations, will explain the relevance of faith to engaging the powers threatening God's creatures in the Inland Empire.

Dr. Tonstad received his PhD from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and his MD from Loma Linda University. He is the author of several books, including "The Lost Meaning of the Seventh Day." Dr. Belliard received his doctorate from Claremont Graduate University and is a member of the faculty of the School of Public Health.

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class meets from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Centennial Complex room 3111.
