Paul the 'eternal enemy of woman'? Sabbath school explores Paul and women

The great playwright George Bernard Shaw expressed an attitude of many contemporary thinkers when he said that Paul was the “eternal enemy of Woman.” Laura Alipoon, Ed.D, chair of radiation technology in the Loma Linda University School of Allied Health Professions, will address the controversial issue of Paul’s attitude toward women for the Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School Sabbath, Aug. 3.

Dr. Alipoon will compare Paul’s words, particularly in his first epistle to the Corinthian church, to the way Romans and Greeks of Paul’s time talked about and treated women.

Dr. Alipoon's presentation continues a series called Paul Among the Peoples that tries to reimagine Paul’s words in the context of his own time. The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class meets from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 in Centennial Complex room 3111.
