STRATEGIC, INNOVATIVE AND MEANINGFUL SCIENCE (SIMS) Award
This inter-institutional grant opportunity, also known as the Strategic, Innovative and Meaningful Science (SIMS) award, is designed to catalyze collaborations between LLU faculty and faculty at other, research-intensive universities. The general outlines are similar to those of GRASP awards, with a total of $100,000 available to be spent over two years; this award will be administered and managed by Research Affairs. All types of research within the mission of Loma Linda University will be considered.
Goal: To fund pilot studies of high-impact, cutting-edge research that will allow a continuum of relational growth between institutions and investigators, which will lead to collaborative external grant funding
Eligibility: Any Loma Linda University faculty and faculty from externally designated R1 Institutions

2026 GRASP
NEW 2025 - GRASP, GRASP-MC, GRASP-FMG, and GRASP-Intl Award
The Office of the Vice President for Research Affairs is pleased to announce the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the 2025 GRASP program. These awards provide support for new investigators from different schools to cooperate in pioneering research projects. GRASP is designed to be a training ground for collaborative partnerships with the goal of increasing the ability of new researchers to apply for extramural grants.

2026 - GCAT
The Office of the Dean of the School of Medicine is pleased to request Research Proposals for the 2025 Grants for Collaborative and Translational Research (GCAT) program.
New Applications: $75,000 per award

Goal: To gather the preliminary data needed to compete for a Foundation, R03, or R21 grant (or equivalent)
Eligibility: Physician Scientist Teams
All types of research within the mission of the School of Medicine will be considered, with a project period of no more than two years. NEW - No Cost Extension (NCE) for Internal Grants
- First NCE: 18 months with VPRA approval, based on an application confirming project activity.
- Second NCE: 12 months with VPRA and Dean(s) or designee approval, requiring a detailed progress report.
Additional NCE: Competitive review by study section with scores indicating fundability
