2016 GCAT awardees announced

The Dean of the School of Medicine is proud to announce the four GCAT awardees for 2016. Eleven applications were received, representing 8 clinical and 2 basic science departments. They were reviewed and scored by a panel of senior researchers, many of whom have experience as NIH reviewers. Based on the combined scores of the reviewers, four projects, each led by a team consisting of one Basic Science researcher and one clinician, were selected for these $75,000, 24-month awards. All applicants will shortly receive copies of the reviewers’ comments to guide them in preparing subsequent grant applications.

Please join Dr. Hadley in congratulating Drs. Xiaobing Zhang and Gary Botimer; Drs. Mary Kearns-Jonker and Timothy Martens; Drs. Richard Sun and Joseph Fan, and Drs. John Zhang and Warren Boling on their successful applications. Together, these four teams will develop insights and approaches to clinically relevant issues that have the potential to make a difference in the lives of patients.
