Thank You from Michael Samardzija

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

After nearly nine incredible years at Loma Linda University Health, the time has come for me to embark on a new chapter and return to private practice as a lawyer.  This decision was not easy, as the journey we've shared has been profoundly meaningful.  It’s hard to put into words how much this time has meant to me and how deeply grateful I am for the experiences we’ve shared.

Loma Linda University Health has been more than just a workplace—it’s been a second home.  The friendships I’ve formed here, the challenges we’ve faced together, and the moments of growth and triumph have all shaped me in ways I could never have imagined.  I’ve been privileged to work alongside some of the most dedicated, compassionate, and inspiring people I’ve ever known.

A special mention must go to the incredible team in Research Affairs.  Serving and leading alongside such a talented and committed group of professionals has been one of the greatest honors of my career.  Their dedication to advancing knowledge, their relentless pursuit of excellence, and their unwavering support for each other and our mission have been truly inspiring. I am so proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I know that the future of Research Affairs is bright with all of you at the helm. 

Leaving this community is bittersweet.  While I’m excited about the opportunities ahead, I know I’ll miss the daily interactions, the shared goals, and the sense of purpose that comes from being part of such a meaningful mission.  I want you all to know how much I’ve valued our time together and how much I’ll miss each of you.

Thank you for your unwavering support, your friendship, and the countless ways you’ve enriched my life.  I’ll carry the lessons and memories from Loma Linda with me always.

As a graduate of this esteemed institution, it has been a privilege to return and serve here.  Loma Linda University Health has played a significant role in shaping who I am, both personally and professionally.  While my journey will continue outside these walls, my support for this institution remains unyielding.  I will always be a proud member of the Loma Linda family, cheering you on from the outside.

I extend my heartfelt wishes to Dr. Travis Losey, my successor, as he steps into this role.  Your unwavering support has been invaluable to me, and I trust that you will extend the same to him.  I eagerly anticipate hearing and reading about the incredible strides you will continue to make together.
