Meet Peace Moenga, RN. Peace is the new Clinical Educator for acute care areas at East Campus Hospital. Peace is the subject of this month's Employee Spotlight so I sat down with her in the beautiful Serenity Garden just outside the 1300 Unit. The first thing you notice about Peace is her amazing smile. It seems like Peace is always smiling. The truth is, her smile is contagious.
I asked Peace what made her decide to come work at East Campus Hospital. She told me that she was working in Texas as a traveling nurse when the company she was working with asked her if she would be interested in an opportunity in California. She told me that the first thing she noticed was the "community feel" she experienced when she came here. Peace told me, "I had never worked in a hospital that felt like home." While walking through one of the Rehab units she was impressed that each patient room had a Bible verse by the door. One of the things she likes most about working at East Campus Hospital is that she encounters many people willing to share Christ openly and freely. She told me that once she experienced East Campus Hospital she said to herself, "If this is how they are, I want to work here!" She went on to say, "Everyone was so nice" and that "working here has allowed me to grow spiritually...I feel God wants me to be here."
Peace says that the best part of her job is the relationships she gets to develop. Her best friend at work is Erica Levy, Manager of Unit 1100. Ironically, Peace did not want to be a nurse originally. But her family urged her to "just try it." After earning her first college degree Peace fell in love with nursing. She told me that, "This is my calling and it is so rewarding."
