This month our employee spotlight falls on Louis Valdez. Louie, as he is best known, has worked at the East Campus Nutrition Services Department since 2008. Whether he is assisting you with checkout or serving you nutritious food, Louie can always be counted on to greet you with a beaming smile. I sat down with Louie this month to get to know him better.
When asked why he decided to come to work at the East Campus Hospital cafeteria he told me that his sister, who at the time worked at the FMO, recommended he come to work here. She told him it was a good opportunity for him to learn as well as an opportunity to work with good people. Since working here at East Campus he has been exposed to the Seventh-day Adventist health message. Consequently, he told me that working here has affected him in a positive way which has resulted in eating a healthier diet. He says, "I've become more aware of healthy foods and healthier habits."
Louie told me that what he enjoys most about his job is that, "employees treat you well, people are really kind and we work as a team together." In fact, that is why Louie enjoys coming to work each day. Finally, I asked him if he had a 'best friend' at work and he responded, "Isaac Tovar, he's my best pal."
Louie has three kids and loves his family. He says, "I love to spend time with them." Thank you Louie for your excellent service!
