On March 1st, 2015, a few students from the 2016 cohort and from the Orthotics & Prosthetics program braved the cold drizzily weather to run a CarFit event. The Department collaborated with the Spanish SDA church in Loma Linda. We had 12 drivers join us giving students an opportunity to practice their skills as they completed the 12-point checklist with each driver.
CarFit is an educational program that offers older adults the opportunity to check how well their personal vehicles “fit” them. The CarFit program also provides information and materials on community-specific resources that could enhance their safety as drivers, and/or increase their mobility in the community. For more information visit http://www.car-fit.org/.
