The Family Resource Fair was an exciting event that took place in the City of Redlands. Families with children with special needs were invited to participate in fun activities as well as explore available resources from LLU. This collaborative event took place between the Behavioral Health Institute, the School of Allied Health Professions – Department of Occupational Therapy, and Leaps and Boundz. Shannon Corcoran and Sara Katleman, 2nd year MOT students, created and designed educational handouts for tummy time, development of handwriting, and use of scissors for families as well as great posters. They created and facilitated fun activities with children and their families to support family participation in typical childhood activities. Parents were amazed at how much their children were able to “sit down” when appropriate support and positive engagement were provided. Thank you, Sara and Shannon, for all your hard work.
