Oakwood University is participating in the Home Depot's Retool Your School program and needs your help:
The Home Depot's fourth annual Retool Your School Campus Improvement Grant Program will award up $50,000 in grants to a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) for renovations and campus improvements.
Should Oakwood University win the $50,000 grant, it will use the funds to build an outdoor pavilion equipped with outdoor kitchen appliances, grills and fireplaces.
Previous winners include 2011 recipient Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach, which used its $50,000 grant to install automated access doors and a wheelchair ramp in its student center. Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, the 2012 recipient, restored the exterior and entryway of Lincoln Hall, one of the university's most historic buildings.
