The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School Class will begin a new six-week series titled Prophets—Poets Aflame with God’s Passion probing the writings of six biblical prophets, starting Sabbath, March 16, when Roy Branson will start the series by focusing on "Amos--God's Voice of Hate and Hope."
The widely misunderstood role of the biblical prophet and nature of the prophet’s poetry will be explored, as well as the relevance of the prophet’s words today. For example, Martin Luther King Jr.’s prominently relied on Amos in his “I Have a Dream” speech.
During subsequent Sabbaths the class will read and discuss other biblical prophets, such as Hosea, gathered within what is sometimes called the Book of Twelve.
The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School Class meets Sabbaths from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Centennial Complex room 3111.
