Wholeness workshop explores disabilities

Seventeen year-old Chase Boyd and his father, Anthony Boyd, D.D.S., LLU School of Dentistry faculty member, will present “Chase-ing the Dream: Where Disabilities Are Not Marginalized” as part of the Wil Alexander Wholeness Series Wednesday, Feb. 27.

Chase and Dr. Boyd will discuss their family's journey with Duchene's Muscular Dystrophy. They will communicate the emotional and social aspects of the disease, and how these can be more threatening to one's overall happiness than the physical challenges.

Workshop objectives:

  • Gain a better understanding of a disabled person’s day-to-day physical challenges living within mainstream society;
  • understand why the extra effort to be mainstreamed is worth it;
  • gain an understanding on which aspect of the disability is tougher: physical or emotional; and
  • learn how to treat more than the physical aspects of disabilities.

This workshop will be held in Evans Hall Cutler Amphitheater from 5 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.

Email meals@llu.edu to reserve a light meal following the workshop.
