Exploration of early Christians' relationship with wealth continues

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School Class will continue exploring early Christians and wealth as Katherine Parsons will introduce Paulinus of Noal and Jerome of Rome and Jerusalem, figures from the 4th and 5th centuries, in "Early Christians Renounce and Seek Wealth."

Christians of the period included the rich--who lived in gorgeous villas throughout Britain, Gaul, Spain, North Africa, Sicily into Italy--who felt at ease in the world, their lives bathed in a sense of splendor and excitement; and the formerly rich, who gave away inheritances built over generations to become priests.

Katherine Parsons, assistant professor of history at La Sierra University, graduated from La Sierra University with a B.A. in history and English and earned her M.Phil. in early modern history from the University of Cambridge. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in early modern England at the University of California, Riverside.

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class meets Sabbaths from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Centennial Complex room 3111.
