Sabbath school links historical, modern Christians and philanthropy

John Jones, Ph.D., will plunge into a historic struggle of the early Christian church--"Romans and Christians Clash Over Wealth and Philanthropy: Symmachus, Senator of Rome vs. Ambrose, Bishop of Hippo, 340-403"--Sabbath, Jan. 26.

At a time when Loma Linda University is engaged in major philanthropic effort, Dr. Jones will recreate a time when faithful Christians wrestled with how they ought to dispose of their increasing wealth.

A professor of New Testament and comparative religions at the La Sierra University's H.M.S. Richards Divinity School, Dr. Jones is well known for his long participation in the weekly LLBN television seminar, "Searching for Answers."

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class meets 10:30-11:30 in Centennial Complex room 3111.
