Professor tells story of women's ordination in Anglican, Adventist churches

Gil Valentine, Ph.D., will present "Flying Bishops and the Ascent of Women to Ordination: The Anglican Experience" for the Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School Class Sabbath, Dec. 15. Dr. Valentine will tell the story of how the Anglican Communion came to ordain women, equalizing the status of women and men within the communion's pastorate, and comparing that process to the more turbulent recent events within the Adventist Church.

Dr. Valentine, professor and chairman of the La Sierra University School of Education's department of administration and leadership, has wrtiten extensively on Adventist history, including his most recent books, "The Struggle for the Prophetic Heritage" (2006) and "The General Conference Presidents and Ellen White" (2011).

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School Class meets Sabbaths from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Centennial Complex room 3111.
