Nutrition researcher, best-selling author to present nutrition workshop Sept. 28

Dr. Joel Fuhrman, family medicine physician, six-time New York Times best-selling author and nutritional researcher, will present a workshop titled "Nutritional Excellence: The Most Powerful Medicine," part of the Wil Alexander Wholeness Series, Wednesday, Sept. 28. The workshop will be held in the Loma Linda University Church from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Dr. Fuhrman is an internationally-recognized expert who specializes in preventing and reversing disease though nutritional and natural methods. He has appeared on hundreds of radio and television shows including The Dr. Oz Show, The Today Show, Good Morning America and Live with Kelly and Michael. Dr. Fuhrman has seen thousands who have lost weight and recovered from serious chronic diseases through a nutrient-dense, plant-rich diet--a diet he calls the Nutritarian Diet.

Objectives for the workshop include:

  • understand how reducing both glycemic load and high biological protein leads to favorable hormonal status;
  • learn about the difference between nuts and seeds versus oils; and
  • discover the evidence behind the most powerful longevity-promoting phytochemical rich foods: G-BOMBS=Greens, Beans, Onions, Mushrooms, Berries, Seeds.


The event is free and reservations are not required. Students must bring a current student ID to receive attendance credit.

Continuing education credit is available:

  • Loma Linda University Medical Center, Staff Development, is a provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 00239, and this program is approved for 1 contact hour. Respiratory Care is reciprocal with BRN credit.
  • Loma Linda University Medical Center, Staff Development, is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC) for 1 hour.
  • Loma Linda University Medical Center, Staff Development, is a continuing professional education accredited provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Registered dietitians and dietetic technicians, registered, will receive 1 continuing professional education unit for completion of this program.
  • Loma Linda University Medical Center, Staff Development, is recognized as a continuing competency approving agency by the Physical Therapy Board of California. This program is approved for 1CE credit.
  • This course meets the qualifications for 1 hour of continuing professional development credit for Speech-Language Pathologists as required by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board, provider #PDP42.
