'Living on the Margins': How transition can help center faith (April 18)

Zack Plantak, PhD, will present "Living on the Margins Centers Our Faith" Sabbath, April 18, exploring how experiences of transition--geographically, professionally, spiritually--can lead to a sense of dislocation, even pain. But these experiences, Dr. Plantak will argue, can also draw us beyond protective barriers to richer, even more fulfilling lives.

Dr. Plantak, who started his education in the former Yugoslavia, attended Newbold College and earned his doctorate in ethics from the University of London. Before joining the Loma Linda University School of Religion faculty this year, Dr. Plantak chaired the Washington Adventist University department of religion. In addition to lecturing throughout the world, he has written many journal articles and wrote "Silent Church: Human Rights and Social Theology."

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class meets from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sabbaths in Centennial Complex room 3111.
