Support CHDMM, community outreach at 2015 ABC Invitational April 2

The Center for Health Disparities and Molecular Medicine (CHDMM) presents its annual Apprenticeship Bridge to College (ABC) Invitational 2015 Thursday, April 2. The event is part of the selection process for the ABC program that provides high school students the opportunity to participate in hands-on scientific research addressing health care disparities.

The session will feature an address by H. Roger Hadley, MD, dean of the Loma Linda University School of Medicine; and will be attended by high school students interested in careers in science, parents, school officers and community leaders from the Inland Empire.

The ABC program is one of four tracks offered by the Health Disparities Research Program: The ABC program is offered to high school juniors and seniors; college undergraduates can participate in the Undergraduate Training Program; and the Medical Training Program is open to medical and doctoral students (PhD and MD/PhD) participating in the LLU-National Institutes of Health Initiative for Maximizing Student Development program. The goal of these programs is to further develop a diverse biomedical workforce to address the health needs of local communities and the nation.

The programs' unique combination of students provides a fertile environment for engaging in scientific interactions, peer mentoring and networking, and for the development of leadership skills and new friendships.

The ABC Invitational begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Wong Kerlee International Conference Center. All are welcome to attend and show support for CHDMM and its community outreach efforts.

To register for the invitational session, email David Erghelegiu at chdmm@llu.edu or join the event on Facebook.
