Sabbath school to present a new view of the Sanctuary doctrine March 28

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class will focus on "Sanctuary for the Vulnerable" Sabbath, March 28.

David Larson, PhD, will present a fresh understanding of the Sanctuary, what is considered the most distinctive major doctrine taught by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Michael Orlich, MD, DrPH, will respond, suggesting how Dr. Larson's creative explorations of new meanings of the sanctuary might affect Loma Linda University's understanding of public health.

Dr. Larson and Dr. Orlich's presentation is the fourth in a series of sessions devoted to Adventist Faith and Public Health. The following Sabbath, April 1, Dr. Sigve Tonstad, a New Testament scholar, and Dr. J.C. Belliard, a public health advocate, will discuss the relevance of the biblical understanding of Creation to public health: "Out of His Dust and Mud God Heals."

Dr. Larson, a professor of religion in the Loma Linda University School of Religion, is a founder and long-time director of the Center for Christian Bioethics. He is also the editro and author of several books in theology and ethics.

Dr. Orlich, an assistant professor for the schools of Medicine and Public Health, has started two regularly scheduled clubs, one studying poetry and the other books.

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class meets Sabbath mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Centennial Complex room 3111.
