No fooling: Humor and laughter can improve your life (April 1)

Dr. Lee Berk and Dr. Gurinder Bains will present a workshop titled "Humor & Laughter: Effects on Learning, Creativity & Quality of Life" as part of the Wil Alexander Wholeness Series Wednesday, April 1.

This workshop will demonstrate how humor and laughter can improve an individual's quality of life in numerous ways.

Dr. Berk and Dr. Bains are faculty with the School of Allied Health Professions. Dr. Berk is a nationally recognized expert in this area, and his research on the connection between humor and health has been published in medical and science journals and has been featured on CNN, ABC News, and Fox News.

Objectives for the workshop include:

  • demonstrating how humor/laughter can enhance one's sense of well-being;
  • exploring how humor can be an integral component of whole-person care; and
  • learning how humor enhances one's brain state, improving memory and recall.

The workshop will be held in the Centennial Complex Damazo Amphitheater from 5 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.
