Wholeness workshop examines Street Medicine Project Nov. 5

Barry Howe, an LLU medical student, will present a workshop titled "Street Medicine Project" as part of the Wil Alexander Wholeness Series Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Street Medicine is a student-run, volunteer outreach project aimed at providing free health care to the homeless in San Bernardino. The project operates in conjunction with the SAC Health System and is supported by the School of Medicine departments of family medicine and preventative medicine, as well as by other LLU schools who are collaborating interprofessionally on this project.

Objectives for the workshop will include

  • understand the theological and ethical themes that drive the Street Medicine Project;
  • learn how LLU Street Medicine creates a rich, multidisciplinary learning environment;
  • see how key facets of the LLU Street Medicine story reflect important new trends in health care organization and dedication; and
  • understand characteristics and challenges of the homeless.

This workshop is sponsored by the School of Medicine and will be held in the Centennial Complex Damazo Amphitheater from 5 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.

Email meals@llu.edu by noon Monday, Nov. 3, to reserve a light meal following the workshop.
