Sabbath school takes on God and suffering Nov. 1

Richard Rice, Ph.D., will discuss "Suffering: Response to the Problem of Pain" Sabbath, Nov. 1, the second of two presentations to the Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class.

Dr. Rice will recount specific, real-life cases of suffering and explore six theological attempts to explain the meaning of suffering. Dr. Rice will draw insights from his latest book, "Suffering and the Search for Meaning."

In addition to serving as a professor of religion at Loma Linda University, Dr. Rice has published several books, including what is now a theological classic, "The Openness of God," a book that launched a distinct strain of contemporary theology discussed in countless seminars and scholarly conferences.

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class meets Sabbaths from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Centennial Complex room 3111.
