Compelling moral vision: Composers and the Old Testament Sept. 6

Steven Hardin, M.D., will present "Romantic Composers as Prophets" to the Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School Sabbath, Sept. 6.

Dr. Hardin's presentation will continue a series exploring Compelling Moral Visions, relating the work of Old Testament prophets to the moral visions projected by musical composers. Dr. Hardin will draw on the work of arguably the greatest 20th century Jewish scholar of the prophets, Abraham Joshua Heschel, as he focuses on the moral vision of Franz Schubert.

Dr. Hardin, chief of oncology/hematology at the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System, earned a bachelor's degree in art and has displayed paintings at the University of Redlands as well as performing with chamber groups and orchestras in Southern California.

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class meets Sabbaths from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Centennial Complex room 3111.
