The compelling moral vision of 'The Gay Within Your Gates' Aug. 30

Larry Geraty, Ph.D., will lead a discussion titled "The Gay Within Your Gates" Sabbath, Aug. 30, for the Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School, the latest in the class' summer series, Compelling Moral Visions. Dr. Geraty will visit the New Testament's perspectives on homosexuality and recount his own experience in gradually learning about pilgrimages of Adventist gays within the church. Homosexuality is one of the topics most discussed currently within the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Dr. Geraty, son of the distinguished Adventist educator Tom Geraty, grew up in China and Lebanon. A graduate of Pacific Union College and the SDA Theological Seminary, Larry Geraty earned his doctorage from Harvard, served as the chair of Old Testament department at the SDA Theological Seminary and as president of Atlantic Union College before moving to La Sierra University. In addition, he served as president of the distinguished American Schools of Oriental Research and for many years organized and led the largest and most successful archaeological expedition in the country of Jordan.

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class meets from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sabbaths in Centennial Complex room 3111.
