Sabbath school: Poet Isaiah inspiration for Herbert, Houseman, Graves (June 14)

Robert Dunn, Ph.D, will present "Isaiah: Poet to the World, Part II" Sabbath, June 14, in the Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School Class.

Dr. Dunn, emeritus professor of English at La Sierra University, has long taught courses on the Bible as literature and will demonstrate how passages in Isaiah have inspired poems by such later poets as George Herbert, English poet and preacher (1593-1633), and A.E. Houseman and Robert Graves, poets from the late 19th and 20th centuries. In each case a specific passage in Isaiah will be read and compared to a specific modern poem. The assumption is that Isaiah is one of the great works of both theology and world literature.

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School meets from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Centennial Complex room 3111.
