Isaiah, Yahweh, and the Assyrian gods topic of Sabbath school class May 24

Douglas Clark, Ph.D., will continue the Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class series on Isaiah with "Yahweh and the Assyrian Gods" Sabbath, May 24.

Isaiah, in captivity, was conversant with the stories about deities circulating among the Assyrian intellectual class of the day. Himself an intellectual, Isaiah was able to write poetry vividly proclaiming the superiority of Yahweh to the gods of the greatest empire of the eighth-century world.

Dr. Clark is associate dean of the La Sierra University H.M.S. Richards Divinity School and professor of biblical studies and archeology.

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class meets from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sabbaths in Centennial Complex room 3111.
