Robert Dunn, Ph.D., will explain how the stirring images and words of Isaiah have made their way into poetry worldwide Sabbath, May 17.
Prophets such as Isaiah have been described as "poets of God's elective presence," and Dr. Dunn will demonstrate how Isaiah of Jersualem has become a poet for the world. Among many examples, Dr. Dunn will show how Isaiah's evocative phrase "Watchmen, what of the night?" (Chapter 21) inspired a haunting post-holocaust poem.
Dr. Dunn, emeritus professor of English at La Sierra University, has for many years taught the Bible as literature course.
The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class meets from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Centennial Complex room 3111.
