Sabbath school examines ties between the Christian Connection and the SDA Church March 8

Authors of chapters from the soon-to-be-released "Ellen Harmon White: American Prophet" continue presenting their research Sabbath, March 8.

Bert Haloviak, for many years director of the Office of Archives and Statistics for the Seventh-Day Adventist Church General Conference, will explore how a little-known 19th-century group greatly influenced the burgeoning Seventh-day Adventist Church.

The Christian Connection--to which James White, Joseph Bates and Uriah Smith originally belonged--opposed slavery, rejected creeds, avidly advocated health reform, and ordained women as public teachers of religion, the first denomination to do so. In addition, former Christian Connection preachers led Adventists into accepting the seventh day as Sabbath.

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School Class meets from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Centennial Complex room 3111.
