Professor, proponent of anarchism explores 'Peace on Earth' Dec. 28

Gary Chartier, J.D., Ph.D., associate dean of the La Sierra University Zapara School of Business, will make a timely and provocative presentation to the Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School Class--"Anarchism and 'Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men'"--Sabbath, Dec. 28.

Opponents have sometimes characterized anarchism as the agent of disorder and civil chaos. Its contemporary students and proponents, of which Dr. Chartier is an increasingly prominent advocate, understand themselves to be urging not chaos, but a new, more harmonious order emerging from free choice and freedom of association rather than from governmental coercion.

Dr. Chartier earned his Ph.D. in theology from the University of Cambridge, and wrote his first book on "The Analogy of Love." Since completing his law degree, where he graduated among the top 10 percent of his class at UCLA, Dr. Chartier has written several books, including a widely noted and praised volume, "The Conscience of an Anarchist."

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class meets from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Centennial Complex room 3111.
