Series begins exploration of healing May 18

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School class starts a new series, Healing in the Bible, looking at metaphors and themes about healing that run through the Old and New Testaments This Sabbath, May 18.

This first Sabbath of the series, Roy Branson, director of the Center for Christian Bioethics, will explore a theme that runs throughout the Bible from Genesis to Revelation: "By the Waters of Scripture: Healing the Cosmos (Genesis 1,2 and Revelation 21, 22)." Dr. Branson will explore biblical passages that portray the raging torrents of chaos and the nurturing water of streams and gardens. He will also pursue the close relation of healing to creation and what that connection means for the life of the church in the world.

Next Sabbath, May 25, David Larson will examine the story of King Hezekiah, struck down with illness (2 Kings 20:1-11 and Isaiah 38:1-22). According to 2 Kings 20:4, “Hezekiah wept bitterly.” And then he prayed.

The Roy Branson and Friends Sabbath School meets Sabbaths from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Centennial Complex room 3111.
