6088:35688 <![CDATA[Funding Opportunities]]> NIH / American Heart Association NIH - Increasing Uptake of Evidence-Based Screening in Diverse Adult Populations (R01 Clinical Trial Optional):  “This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications that seek to understand strategies to reduce disparities in the uptake of evidence-based screening (e.g. screening recommendations proven to be effective based on rigorous systematic review of scientific evidence by authoritative committees) across the adult lifespan.  In this program announcement, screening is defined as a preventive service focused on detection of an undiagnosed disease in asymptomatic populations. Research supported by this initiative should enhance the screening process related to use: (1) in diverse populations, (2) in diverse clinical and community settings, and/or (3) with traditional, non-traditional and/or allied health care providers.”

6088:35687 <![CDATA[New guidelines for NIH and AHRQ Career Development Award Applications]]> NIH and AHRQ NIH and AHRQ Announce Upcoming Updates to Application Instructions and Review Criteria for Career Development Award Applications

“The upcoming updates clarify the current application instructions and review criteria by replacing the term "scientific premise" with "the rigor of the prior research" and adding instruction and review language so that "the rigor of the prior research" is addressed under Significance and Approach. In addition, the updates include new policy requirements for the NIH Policy and Guidelines on the Inclusion of Individuals Across the Lifespan as Participants in Research Involving Human Subjects (NOT-OD-18-116). The exemption language within the review criteria for the Protections for Human Subjects will be updated in preparation for the implementation of the Revised Common Rule.”
