Check out the revised New Funding Opportunities page. It is updated regularly with opportunities from sponsors such as the American Heart Association, Department of Defense (DOD) office of Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP), and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

Another resource for searching for funding opportunities is SPIN (Sponsored Programs Information Network), which has more than 40,000 opportunities from more than 10,000 global sponsors. To access this system, log into LLeRA (https://era.llu.edu/) and click on the ‘Find Funding’ at the top of the page. Links to training videos for how to use the system are in the upper right corner of the SPIN page.

  • EURAXESS Links North America will organize a SCIENCE SLAM EVENT on September 24, 2013 at the American University in Washington DC. A Science Slam is scientific talk where scientists present their own scientific research work in a given time frame - usually 10 minutes or less - in front of a mixed audience. The focus lies on teaching current science to a diverse audience in an entertaining way. The competition is open to researchers based in North America regardless of their nationality or field of research. The winner of the competition will be granted with a free round trip ticket to Brussels, Belgium, to participate in the European Union's funded Conference 'EURAXESS VOICE OF THE RESEARCHERS' on November 21-22, 2013.   • Research Means Hope: The AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges) today announced a new social media resource to highlight federally funded medical research advances being made by scientists and physicians at the nation’s medical schools and teaching hospitals. The new Tumblr feed also includes stories of patients who have benefited from advances in medical research.
    • ]]>     Fri, 27 Mar 2015 10:05:32 -0700     6088:21020 <![CDATA[CITI scheduled downtime]]> The CITI website for both human and animal subjects protections trainings will be UNAVAILABLE for 2-3 days, starting Monday, 07-29-2013. University of Miami, (host for the program) is undertaking a substantive software upgrade to the system that includes:

    • Changes to the look and organization of the CITI interface
    • More secure passwords
      • On re-entry to the system, all learners will be directed to change/update their passwords to the new, more secure format.

     

    For human subjects research:

    For investigators and other research personnel who need to take "Basic" training for certification in human subjects protections, the option to train through the NIH website will remain available while CITI is down. The web-based program “Human Participant Protections Education for Research Teams” offered by National Institutes of Health is available at http://phrp.nihtraining.com/users/login.php?l=3. Upon successful completion of this course, please be sure to print out the completion certificate when offered and fax to 909-558-0577 or extension 80577.

    Certificate renewal through CITI will not be possible during the upgrade.

    Recommendation for both human and animal research training: If you have a time-pressured circumstance, renewing prior to July 29th may be a wise strategy.
