6088:21475 <![CDATA[Principal Investigator Exit Checklist]]> Trina Beckwith When a Principal Investigator (PI) plans on departing from Loma Linda University and is responsible for research projects and laboratory space, a Principal Investigator Exit Checklist (LLUH Transfer of a Research Project policy and procedure) must be completed and submitted to Research Affairs. Completing the checklist gives the opportunity for the PI, department chair, and dean to address several matters before leaving the institution.

The PI Exit Checklist:

  • One checklist must be completed for each research project, including human study and animal protocols
  • Sections can be completed in any order
  • If a PI fails to complete a checklist, the department chair or supervisor is required to do so

6088:21659 <![CDATA[Electronic Signature - get yours today while supplies last!]]> JR> Krausz Research Affairs introduces the following help guides to get you started using electronic ("digital") signatures with ease.

Digital signatures allow you to put your name on an electronic form. When the user receives it, they can be assured that the document looks the same as when it was electronically signed by the sender. In an academic medical environment like Loma Linda University Health there are many internal forms, communications and approvals where the addition of a digital signature is approporiate (*). Since your digital signature is so easy to create, you may think of many situations where you would like to put one to use.

Here are the links to two resources to help you get started creating and using your electronic signature: Quick video "Cheat sheet"

  • First is a quick video, showing you step-by-step how to set up your digital signature.

  • Second, there is a "cheat sheet" with pictures of the key steps. Keep this handy once you've watched the movie version, as a shorthand reminder of exactly what to do.

Please don't be afraid to set-up your digital signature, even if you've not done this before, as it really is very easy.

For questions about this article, you can call JR Krausz, Research Integrity at x87463.

(*) Please note that this is not a digital Certificate, which helps assure that the sender is really who they claim to be. But for many of hte internal documents in "trust environments" on this campus that extra security is not typically necessary.
