Zuccarelli Research Affairs, at the request of Dr. Hart, is soliciting one-page, Phase I concept proposals to the Keck Foundation for their June funding cycle.  Keck focuses on emerging and breakthrough research, technologies and  instrumentation that are high risk but lay the groundwork for new paradigms and discoveries that will save lives, create innovative solutions, or add to our basic understanding (http://www.wmkeck.org/grant-programs/research/eligibility-and-priorities).  The Foundation supports basic research and does not fund clinical or translational studies.  Awards are typically in the range of $500,000 to $2,000,000.

If you are interested in applying, please review the information on the Keck website (http://www.wmkeck.org/grant-programs/research).  The foundation has a three-stage application process with Phase 1 being a single-page concept paper (http://www.wmkeck.org/grant-programs/research/application-process-14030).  We recommend that you consult with Drs. Zuccarelli or Penelope Duerksen-Hughes (pdhughes@llu.edu) to discuss your proposal.  Since Keck requests that Loma Linda University submit no more than four applications, investigators must submit their Phase 1 applications via email to Research Affairs (researchaffairs@llu.edu) by 5 pm Wednesday, June 25.  The proposals will be reviewed to select those with the greatest impact and to limit the number to four or less.  Unauthorized applications submitted directly to the foundation without institutional review will be withdrawn.
