The webpage includes information about the UG, training opportunities, resource materials and links, and FAQs. The webpage can be accessed at: www.llu.edu/research-affairs/uniform-guidance.page

We have also created a Quick Reference Guide for PIs and Administrators that highlights the key changes from the UG.

RAFM will be presenting a UG Training Session on June 4, 2015 at 10am. We would like to extend the invitation for this event to the entire research community as this is an important topic and a great opportunity to ask questions related to the UG. All attendees must register for the session in the OWL Portal (Course Code: S000026096). Breakfast refreshments will be served and attendees will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card.

6088:21803 <![CDATA[3 Revised LLUH Research Policies]]> Trina Beckwith Effective December 26, 2014, the rules related to federally-sponsored awards have changed. These modifications are due to the federal government’s efforts to more effectively focus federal resources on improving performance and outcomes while ensuring the financial integrity of taxpayer dollars. The federal government is referring to this effort as the Uniform Guidance (UG). The guidance supersedes the requirements of various OMB circulars, including OMB Circular A-21, Cost Principles for Educational Institutions, and OMB Circular A-110, Uniform Administrative Requirements for Grants and Agreements With Institutions of Higher Education, Hospitals, and Other Non-Profit Organizations.

Executive Summaries:

  1. Subawards and Subrecipient Monitoring and Procedure
  • Title change from “Policies Governing Subcontracts on Sponsored Projects.”
  • UG revisions including updated terms and references to OMB Circulars.
  • Expands subrecipient monitoring requirements.
  • PTEs required to pay subrecipient invoices within 30 days unless deemed improper.
  • Requires PTEs to honor the subrecipient’s negotiated indirect cost rate, negotiate a rate, or provide a minimum flat rate of 10%.
  • Removed language addressing contracts (to be written).
  1. Post Award Changes to Sponsored Projects Policy and Procedure
  • UG revisions including updated terms and references to OMB Circulars.
  • Defines PI “disengagement,” previously referred to as “absence.”
  1. Procurement and Purchasing Policy and Procedure
  • Title change from “Purchasing on Sponsored Projects.”
  • Elects one year grace period for procurement standards set by UG.

The main Researcher's Alert page, which contains the most recent stories, is located at http://myllu.llu.edu/newsletter-researchersalert/. The left side bar of that page contains a search box at the top which will allow investigators to easily search all Researcher's Alert stories. The stories are also arranged by topics and publication dates.
