Research Affairs is pleased to announce the latest GRASP awards. Sixteen applications were received from 22 different co-investigators. They were reviewed and scored by 13 to 18 individuals from a panel of senior researchers. All the applicants will shortly receive summaries of the reviewers comments.  Based on the combined scores of the reviewers, four projects with investigators from five different schools were selected for funding, fulfilling our goal to encourage collaborative research between researchers in various parts of the institution.

Please join us in congratulating Drs. Penelope Duerksen-Hughes, Nicole Gatto, Raymond Knutsen, Grace Lee, Traci Marin, Wei-Xing Shi, Christopher Wilson, and Xiangpeng Yuan. We earnestly hope that their studies are successful, that their results will appear in peer-reviewed publications and will that it will contribute to applications for extramural funding.

GCAT Awardees

The Dean of the School of Medicine is proud to announce the four GCAT awardees. These four teams of two investigators, a Basic Science researcher and a School of Medicine clinician, will be awarded $75,000 over two years to fund their research collaborations.

Please join Dr. Hadley in congratulating Drs. Xiaobing Zhang and Gary Botimer, Drs. Juli Unternaehrer and Yevgeniya Ioffe, Drs. Maria Filippova and Mark Reeves, and Xiangpeng Yuan and Steve Lee on their successful applications. Together, these four teams will develop insights and approaches to clinically relevant issues that have the potential to make a difference in the lives of patients.

This “Uniform Guidance” replaces the administrative, accounting, audit rules and principles currently in the OMB Circulars, including A-21, A-110, and A-133.

It is effective for new awards and for selected funding increments, issued on or after December 26, 2014.

Research Affairs Financial Management (RAFM) has created a committee to analyze these new rules and develop ways to implement them.  In addition, RAFM members have been working with national research administration organizations like the Council on Governmental Relations (COGR) during the process.
