  • EURAXESS Links North America will organize a SCIENCE SLAM EVENT on September 24, 2013 at the American University in Washington DC. A Science Slam is scientific talk where scientists present their own scientific research work in a given time frame - usually 10 minutes or less - in front of a mixed audience. The focus lies on teaching current science to a diverse audience in an entertaining way. The competition is open to researchers based in North America regardless of their nationality or field of research. The winner of the competition will be granted with a free round trip ticket to Brussels, Belgium, to participate in the European Union's funded Conference 'EURAXESS VOICE OF THE RESEARCHERS' on November 21-22, 2013.   • Research Means Hope: The AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges) today announced a new social media resource to highlight federally funded medical research advances being made by scientists and physicians at the nation’s medical schools and teaching hospitals. The new Tumblr feed also includes stories of patients who have benefited from advances in medical research.
