CITI scheduled downtime

The CITI website for both human and animal subjects protections trainings will be UNAVAILABLE for 2-3 days, starting Monday, 07-29-2013. University of Miami, (host for the program) is undertaking a substantive software upgrade to the system that includes:

  • Changes to the look and organization of the CITI interface
  • More secure passwords
    • On re-entry to the system, all learners will be directed to change/update their passwords to the new, more secure format.

For human subjects research:

For investigators and other research personnel who need to take "Basic" training for certification in human subjects protections, the option to train through the NIH website will remain available while CITI is down. The web-based program “Human Participant Protections Education for Research Teams” offered by National Institutes of Health is available at http://phrp.nihtraining.com/users/login.php?l=3. Upon successful completion of this course, please be sure to print out the completion certificate when offered and fax to 909-558-0577 or extension 80577.

Certificate renewal through CITI will not be possible during the upgrade.

Recommendation for both human and animal research training: If you have a time-pressured circumstance, renewing prior to July 29th may be a wise strategy.
