Weekly Time of Prayer

To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
O my God, in You I trust. ~ Psalm 25:1

There are several recurring themes to be found in many of the psalms, one of which is a prayer for trust. It may seem redundant to keep saying that we will put our trust in God, yet we all are familiar with the pull to rely on ourselves instead of God.  Let’s just admit that we like to be in control and sometimes find it difficult to give that up unless we find ourselves in dire straits.

We are reminded today, to make God our first priority and choose to place our trust in Him rather than others or ourselves.  God can be trusted to protect and defend us from those who seek to do us harm, as well as comfort and care for us when we are hurting. As we head towards the end of the month and for some the end of summer programs, we choose like the psalmist to lift our souls to God and put our trust in Him.

Heavenly Father, we have no idea the encounters today will bring, yet we are confident that you can and will defend and protect us.  We turn our hearts to You because we trust You and also learning to trust You.  We remain confident that You will bring comfort to those who are mourning, healing to those who are unwell and wisdom to those who have decisions to make.  We also ask You to give us the strength to live and reflect the values of Loma Linda University Health as we go about the business of providing health care today.
