Thank you Katya, I agree. I have recently decided to become a vegetarian, as way to develop a more inward centered life or devotion to Christ. I too am aligning my life to look inward, and away from things that would cause me to consume from the outside. Congratulations, thank you so much for your thoughts.
Peace,

This is a true delight to me to see the name of Mr. Ask on this web site. back in 1994-1995 I was an exchange student in the Ask family and, naturally, being 15 and just having come from Russia, the whole notion of being a vegeterian was completely new to me.

I have to say teenagers always try to contest anything new offered to them and instead of listening and learning - I kept arguing and being deaf to the new ways and life alternatives.

Mickey and his family became true inspiration to myself later in my life. To cut a long story short - I was a vegeterian for 4 years, a vegan for 2 years. Now I do successfully mix vegeterian life style with eventual social meat consumption.

However for me the life style goes beyond food consumtion. It is about respect to things I am happy to have in this life. About pausing for a moment my everyday routine and fuss - and turning to things less materialistic. Withdrawing myself from what can be touched or consumed to something that cannot be easily seen, directing myself inwards.

Fasting and vegetarianism are the ways to go.

I want to thank Mickey and his family for being such an eye opener in my life. And I also want to say how sorry I am for being such an obnoxious rebellious teenager back then and causing them so much trouble.

I wish your Group all the inspiration and support from the outside and so hope to see you sometime in the future.

yours truly,
Katya Antoschuk
