Why Blog?

David Dyjack, dean for Loma Linda University School of Public Health, begins his vegetarian diet on January 7. Why the emphasis on a vegetarian diet? Because what’s good for the environment is also good for people. Loma Linda University has emphasized the nutritional benefits for the past 100 years. And studies on environmental benefits are very persuasive, too.

A change in diet is not the easiest resolution to keep, though. To encourage himself–and others who will be joining him–he will blog about his experiences along the way. Accountability is a great motivator!

This blog has spaces dedicated to great vegetarian recipes, “quick facts,” resources on vegetarianism, etc. Your postings are welcome. Share your own healthy lifestyle struggles and triumphs, your recipes, pertinent articles, questions, and comments.

And through it all, have fun!

Good for you for committing yourself to this new diet. I am also a Loma Linda student who did not go Vegetarian until I began my anatomy & physiology dissections course. Thankfully I have some great SDA classmates who shared their recipes and ideologies about the health benefits of going veggie.

May be we can spark up a rally in Nichol Hall and ask for VEGAN snacks in the vending machine!!!! Good luck to you!

    Hi David,
i think it’s a nice idea sharing your diet!
I’m an italian cook and i am focusing my work (and my blog) about dietetic recipes and most of all about psychological implications of this kind of eating. Unfortunately my blog is in italian language but i hope google translation could make a good job for anyone that could be interested in.
I wish you good luck for your purpose.
